Many Australians share their homes and landscapes with possums because like people, possums are well suited to living in the suburbs. However, at times this contact can be noisy and messy – particularly if the possum takes up residence in the roof of your house or over-grazes a prized plant in the garden.
The most familiar and abundant of the many Australian possum species are the Brushtail possum (Trichosurus vulpecula) and the Common Ringtail possum (Pseudocheirus peregrinus). Depending on where you live, possums along with most native animals, are protected species. Consequently we have to learn to live with possums and manage their behaviour in order to minimise the negative aspects possums can on our properties.

People have tried all manner of possum guards to protect their trees in the past, this article shows how difficult it can be.

Tree Logic love the aesthetic of a tree. They also want trees to be protected from the damage that our possums and other critters can cause. Here lay a dilemma. “Possum Guards are made from materials such as clear polypropelene and colourbond steel and even though they can be effective they interfere with the natural beauty of a tree” Director Stephen Frank said. At times these are covered in graffiti  adding to the problem.

This view has prompted the development of an innovative new product by Tree Logic called Tree Skin. The new Tree Logic Skin is printed with an image similar to the bark of the tree which visually blends the guard into the trunk retaining a harmony with the natural surrounds.
